From time to time, I've sometimes let my students create a 1-pager note sheet they can use during their tests. The idea is that they can use whatever they can fit on 1 page, front and back (or a notecard).
That's the idea for this STAAR persuasive writing review. It's all the tips and reminders they need on one page (front and back). On this sheet, they have instructions and reminders for the writing process, tips about creating strong proof, stems/formats for thesis statements, tips on intros and conclusions, and possible structures for outlining their paper.
All this on ONE Sheet!
This is great for reviewing and studying before STAAR. It's handy to have them go through this while completing a practice prompt.
These strategies have worked for me- I've had a 92-94% passing rate with my sophomores (regular and on-level) for the past 3 years. Hopefully they will work for you as well!
This pairs nicely with my STAAR review powerpoint, which details some of the strategies listed here.
Also good for any persuasive writing practice :)
