I created this “Family Feud” style game that is specifically geared towards reviewing concepts for the 4th grade STAAR Reading test: story elements in fiction, ways an author organizes a passage, types of figurative language, etc. However, it is completely editable, so you can change any of the questions that you would like. I know that we all use different strategies for Reading, so you may even want to change a question or two, to fit how you teach your students. I would also recommend this game for other grade levels, since you can adapt it to fit your needs.
They have a BLAST playing this game. It is a laid-back, fun way to prepare them for the test, ease their minds, and increase their confidence about “the big day”.
There are 10 rounds in this game and it is played the same way as the traditional Family Feud:
Round 1: Story Elements in Fiction Literature
Round 2: Forms of Non-Fiction Literature
Round 3: Structural Elements of Poetry
Round 4: Elements of Dramatic Literature
Round 5: An Author’s Purpose for Writing
Round 6: Ways an Author Organizes a Passage
Round 7: Examples of Text Features
Round 8: How to Summarize Fiction Literature
Round 9: Types of Figurative Language
Round 10: Approaches to Understanding the Unknown (Vocab & Inferences)
The answer to each question is in the "Notes" field on the PowerPoint.
