STAAR Jeopardy is a fun way to review test-taking, and the original idea came from great teachers in Pearland ISD, Pearland, TX. The Jeopardy cards reinforce key things students should do in order to do their best on the STAAR Reading Test. You can place the cards in a pocket chart or on a project board so that the whole class plays together (girls vs boys, table group vs table group, etc.), or run multiple copies of the cards and give to partners or small groups of students along with the STAAR Jeopardy Recording Sheet.
The set comes with cards for 3 categories:
1. Test Taking Strategies (what good readers & test takers do & why)
2. Question Stems (what the question is asking—summary, main idea, inferring, etc.) These also build schema on the selection.
3. Stamina (the things to do in order to keep stamina up throughout the test)
The front of the cards have the category name and the dollar amount. The back of the cards have the answer. Copy them 2 sided, back to back, then cut apart. The 500.00 questions in each category have the same cards repeated. If you are playing with just one set of cards then you will only need one of the 500.00 cards on the sheet. If you would like your cards color-coded (as seen in the photos), just copy them on colored cardstock and laminate for sturdiness.
