This passage about WWII hero, Audie Murphy, assesses fourth grade students on context clues, inferencing, main idea, summarization, poetry and more. Audie Murphy, a Texan, was the most decorated soldier of WWII. Includes an answer key, a passage AND a poem. I've included questions you can pass out to each student as well as questions you can post "around-the-room" in stations if you need an activity that will get kids up and out of the chair. Just print the 1-page passage for students and a single copy of the around-the-room questions and let them take their clipboards and walk around silently to answer the questions at different stations.
There's even a sheet of ballots for each question if you want to have students practice bubbling in their answer on the ballot and then drop it in an envelope at each station to "vote" for what they think is the best answer.
If you want to use it as an assessment, print all the pages 2-sided and you'll have a great, STAAR-formatted passage that will quickly let you know whether you fourth graders have grasped the objectives.
In addition to the answer key, this PDF includes a colored answer key for the around-the-room questions. You can pull up the PDF on your laptop/document camera, go to the first question and discuss it, and then just advance to the next page to reveal the answer!
This package gives you lots of options, and great practice for STAAR reading formatted questions.
