With this product, use STAAR released assessments in an intentional and purposeful way to practice testing strategies, critical thinking, and classroom application assessments.
Students will set a purpose for reading by creating a PAT (Pay Attention To) list and will purposefully and systematically move through the text by using an intentional process.
In this product, there is a STAAR released passage in two different formats:
· Option #1: Warm up: You can use the PowerPoint and give students the handout with the selection on one side and tasks/STAAR questions to do for each day on the back. Please note that the questions are open-ended on these pages—students will just preview the questions the first day. When you show the slide show on Wednesday through Friday, students will see the answer choices. They will need to write these down; instead, they are writing their reasoning for eliminating the choice or justification for choosing it (text support).
· Option #2: Short cycle assessment: Give students the selection and the 4 questions all at once for a short assessment after reviewing the skills.
