I use this scavenger hunt to take a break from STAAR review and give the students a bit of a 'fun' assignment. You can project or read the directions, I typically pass out a copy to each student. They really like it and helps test their knowledge of the periodic table. A Clue style mystery with clues leading to who the 'murderer' is. One student gets to play the murderer which is revealed through their search. There are 3 different types of clues, one is the murder (labeled Packet A1) make sure at least one student gets that for fun. It also helps build confidence as the murderer actively tries to throw the others off, while they have to rely on their knowledge. Really helps my students who try to ask the 'smartest' kid how to do each group assignment instead of remembering for themselves.
