Not only do we have to teach our kids all of the concepts that are going to be on the test, but we also need to teach them how to take a standardized test. Test-taking strategies are important for our students to know, in order for them to be successful. I created this “Family Feud” style game to review test-taking strategies with my 4th graders before STAAR. They have a BLAST playing this game. It is a laid-back, fun way to prepare them for the test, ease their minds, and increase their confidence about “the big day”. I know that each classroom is different, as far as what is expected on test day… this game is completely editable, so you can adapt it to fit your classroom. I would recommend this game for ANY grade level that has standardized testing.
There are 5 rounds in this game and it is played the same way as the traditional Family Feud:
Round 1: How to Prepare the Night Before & Morning of the Test
Round 2: Strategies to Use When You Get Tired During the Test
Round 3: Approaches to Answering Multiple-Choice Questions
Round 4: Ways to Show Your Work During the Test
Round 5: Steps for Checking Over Your Test
The answer to each question is in the "Notes" field on the PowerPoint.
