Our school uses the STAR Test to track our students’ progress on standards throughout the year. I needed a product to display my students’ data while encouraging my students to improve. This was my solution.
Students take an initial STAR assessment in the beginning of the year. They record their scale score on a graph. The next time they take the assessment, the race is on to beat their own score by as much as they can. Students earn stars that show the levels they have passed. So if a student increases 50 scale score points from the beginning of the year, they would earn that star. I display my class’ stars in a pocket chart. Simply laminate the stars, give each student a class number, and let the achieving begin!!
With this product, you can encourage students to beat their own “points goal” as well as beat the class record! I reward students when they beat their own score by each +100 points, and I award the student who beat their score the most. There are many options for rewards!
