LAB OVERVIEW and OBJECTIVES: All stems have an ability to store starch that is created during the photosynthetic process that mainly occurs in the leaves of a plant. Some types of stems have a much greater ability to do this compare to other types. In this lab students will use iodine to test for the presence of starch in plants that represent some major types of stems.

TEACHER NOTE:
Please see sample for the exact lab report. This lab is super easy to set up and conduct with students. The lab also helps reinforce the idea/concept of plant structure in an engaging hands-on way.
