Are your students struggling with reading and comprehending complex scientific articles? Do they often use somewhat unrelated sources or quotes in the midst of their confusion?
I developed this resource in response to my own students' struggles, and it has greatly helped them when searching for resources (and quotes within) that most effectively support their research topic. The provided resource includes an outline of the STARS procedure, as well as an example to model from, and a student work page. This is not meant to replace APA or MLA citing, but rather supplement traditional bibliographies by providing students a structure on which to organize their findings and information.
