There are two 'Parks & Recreation' episodes that I use when we are discussing State & Local government...Season 2 "Freddy Spaghetti" and Season 5 "Soda Tax." Honestly, high school students love the show and it makes for some great conversation at the end. One episode takes a look at what local government's role is when considering services and budgets, while the other takes a satirical look at Mayor Bloomberg's proposal to tax larger sodas to help curb obesity and the conversation of the role of government in the consumer's life.
*THE "FREDDY SPAGHETTI EPISODE HAS MOMENTS OF SEXUAL HUMOR...PREVIEW PRIOR TO SHOWING YOUR CLASS TO SEE IF IT IS APPROPRIATE FOR YOU CLASSES.*
