Day of the Dead comes to life with bright and beautiful anatomically correct sugar skulls! Use our easy step by step powerpoint in the classroom to create a technical directed draw.
First, a seven slide front load bursting with images explores this cultural holiday.
Now fully inspired, it's onto the sugar skull lesson.
Students first measure out guidelines with a ruler. With vertical and horizontal midlines and a centerpoint in place, they can begin a technical skull drawing. Along the way, students will review anatomical terms such as:
- Orbital Rim
- Nasal Cavity
- Zygomatic Bone and Arch
- Temporal Bone
Once the skull drawing is complete, it's time to turn on creative mode and transform their technical drawing into colorful watercolor paintings. Students will learn some watercolor tricks and techniques before finishing off their skull with sparkling glitter glue.
Makes for a great Dia de los Muertos display!
