You've heard of STEAM and STEM, but how about STREAM? The 'R' stands for reading and is such an important part of our day! In these activities, we are linking STEAM projects to a read aloud. This pack is dedicated to the picture book, "The Tree That's Meant To Be," by Yuval Zommer.
The activities included in this pack are perfect for the month of December and for an engineering project in the days leading up to holiday break. Students are asked to build a tree! They must stay within a budget and can only use certain materials to build a tree. Students learn about personification through this project, and build their trees to have show personification.
In this pack, there is everything you need to link the story to multiple areas.
Begin by reading the story to your students. Kids are never too old to be read to, and this book is so much fun!
Included in the pack:
Your kids will have a blast with this book and the activities included here. There is enough included where you could focus on this book for an entire day OR you could come back to this a few times during the week. Because multiple subjects are integrated into this pack, you will find many ways to use the contents.
Materials needed for this project are as follows:
*Newspapers or magazines
*Spray paint (optional, but fun)- you will use this to spray the trees the kids make green.
Have fun with this STEAM project! I know your kiddos will.
