Bright, beautiful mural style project for Grades 3 - 6. You, a sub, or volunteer will love the easy "follow-along" digital PDF format. The images do the teaching, making it a win-win for everyone with fabulous results.
First, use our Free Matisse frontload for a little bit of art history and a lot of inspiration.
Then onto the presentation that includes a quick overview of otters and sea stars which are keystone animals. Keystone animals play an imperative, unifying role in their environment.
Next, students use bright colored paper to create their own individual Matisse inspired, "cut-out" sea life collage as they follow along with the instructional images.
Using our templates, students can cut out black otters and starfish. These will be used to create a unifying element to the mural once all the individual collages are installed together. The animals create a unifying element to the art, just like they do tho their environment.
When all the collages and unifying elements are mounted together you have one big, bright and bold collaborative mural, just like Matisse created!
