Product Description
Start collecting your cardboard scraps because you won't want to miss this fabulously fun and engaging STEAM / STEM project! Our 4th grade students did amazingly well on these animal face sculptures and they loved this project every step of the way. Although I wouldn't go much younger than 4th or advanced 3rd grader students, older students would also benefit greatly from this project as this is an open-ended project which challenges and engages a range of ages and ability levels. We finished this project just in time to get a display out for our school's AdvancED STEM visitors as our school went for our second STEM certification. I was delighted that this project with respective display brought some of the panel into the art classroom to talk about STEAM! Often the art classroom is overlooked for STEM certification consideration, but this project acted as our 'hook' for some wonderfully curious panel members. On a side note, we got the additional certification and art was specifically mentioned in the final debriefing... woo hoo! This project focuses primarily on art + engineering + math (in measurements and scale).
