Spectroscopes are surprisingly easy to make out of cardboard tubes and make a great STEM project. Your students can build a working spectroscope and use it to look at and compare different light sources in terms of ROYGBIV. What a colorful activity! The activity requires the availability of small sheets of inexpensive diffraction grating. Sources of diffraction gratings are given and the grading rubric for building the model is included. Students enjoy building, decorating, and using spectroscopes to analyze lights of different color!
