This is a CLOSE READ for STELLALUNA by Janell Cannon. This week long study is about a bat who falls as her Mom is trying to escape from an owl, showing the willingness of Stellaluna to adapt to a strange environment. This CLOSE READ focuses on the following skills: SEQUENCING, COMPARE and CONTRAST CHARACTERS, MAKING PREDICTIONS, VOCABULARY, PROBLEMS and SOLUTIONS, EXPANDING VOCABULARY, and WRITING. This CLOSE READ on FICTIONAL BATS is recommended for Kindergarten through 3rd grade, but can be used for struggling students in upper intermediate grades. It comes with DAILY INSTRUCTIONS, EASY PREP PRINTABLE for ELA JOURNALS or notebook paper and ends with a 5 questions ASSESSMENT. You get a BAT PROJECT that can be completed in class, or sent home as a family project.
