STEM Action Time!

What’s in Your Cupboard?

Got Straws?

Need a STEM lesson RIGHT NOW! No time to gather materials? We have come up with a lesson that focuses on just one main material plus a few simple additions that most classrooms usually have. A simple plan and simple materials, but a great hands-on STEM problem solving activity!
This particular activity uses straws. .
We suggest at least 30 straws per group. Add 3 feet of masking tape, a desk or tabletop, a yardstick and you are ready to go. Students will use their problem solving and collaboration skills as they work to solve the challenge of creating the longest cantilever they can engineer.
Simple plans and simple materials, but a great hands-on STEM activity! Packet Includes student handouts, teacher notes, a reflection page, a rubric, role cards, inquiry questions, and the engineering design process poster.
