STEM is the general trend for science activities in today's courses. STEM activities can be implemented at any time throughout the course. It is not content specific, but requires scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills to complete.
STEM activities focus on real-world issues and problems, they are hands-on or open-ended inquiry, investigative or experimental, foster collaboration, are rigorous, and allow for multiple right answers.
In this activity, students investigate the growing struggle for accessing clean water. In America, we are in our little bubble. However, these struggles for basic needs are very real for other countries. Students will research the topic, the current technology, and the innovations of engineers. They will also work on some of their own ideas in solving this growing challenge. Students will also read through online tutorials regarding molarity and pH. There are some problems for them to complete as well.
