¡Pregúntame! Present Tense "Verbos de bota / Zapato" en Español

No Prep - just PROJECT! This straightforward question and answer format aims to get our Spanish language students talking and communicating in the target language with personalized questions and sound COMPREHENSIBLE INPUT.

It includes:

  • Suggestions for use in Spanish class
  • 66 questions for Spanish I or II related to the most frequently used "boot" verbs: e-ie; o-ue; i-e; and u-ue.
  • A Verb Chart of high frequency stem-changing verbs divided by stem change

Questions can be PROJECTED or printed. Works well as a "timbre" or warm up activity (asking a few questions every day), or as a "Brain Break!" I will often have my students stand up and engage in the questioning and answering with a partner or with other students in the class.

Verb Chart Included! - I am not necessarily an advocate of conjugation charts as I prefer to reference verbs on my verb wall or act them out, but in my experience, some students truly benefit and appreciate having a chart to use as "training wheels" until they are more confident in communicating with the correct verb and form in Spanish. The questions are asked in the order of the verb chart - it does not include vosotros!

Students could also use the verb chart to create their OWN original questions, statements, and stories using the targeted verb category.

ACTFL 5 C's Communication Std. 1.1 - "Students engage in CONVERSATIONS, provide and obtain information..."

Suggestions for how to use this resource and others like it en la clase de Español:

Partners--Students take turns asking each other the questions and answering in complete sentences. "FAST FINISHERS" are encouraged to exchange roles and ask the opposite questions!

Whole Class-As time allows, students volunteer or are called on to answer a specific question (in order) asked by the teacher, or any random question he or she is willing to answer, perhaps receiving participation “puntos!”

Teacher calls on students to ask the question, in order or randomly.

Chain Drill-Teacher starts with asking a student (¡voluntario o víctima!) the first answer and that student asks the next question and calls on another student.

Oral Pair Share-Students volunteer an answer to a question based on their partner’s answer using the third person. “Carlos no entiende los verbos.” “Rosita piensa que la clase de español es divertida."

Writing-Students write their answers to the questions and share them/ compare them with a partner and/or turn in questions to the teacher to further guide instruction or to receive feedback. The stem-changing verb chart (does not include VOSOTROS) and may or may not be used for guidance and for confidence-building. ¡Muchas opciones!
