If you have limited supplies can you still build a tower? Yes, you can! This is a STEM Designing with Dozens challenge! Using only two materials students are challenged to build a very tall tower. This resource also has a bonus challenge included!

Note: This challenge is available in money-saving bundles.

What is the challenge?

Students will follow the steps of the Engineering Design Process in this challenge. They will also have to creatively use a limited supply of two things since they only get a dozen of each! The towers will be precarious structures and they will also have to work with balancing and counterbalancing to make the towers stand. How tall can they build? Can you make one stand more than 100 cm tall? How easily do they tumble? What on earth do you dowith the bendy part of the straw?

In addition, the challenge includes 3 versions! The two extra versions include materials and directions, constraints for the variation, lab sheets, and photos. Each variation adds a new twist to the simple challenge! Check the preview for more!
