What is the challenge?

  • Students will be using materials to design a windmill that has turning blades that are powered by the wind.
  • Students will decide what to use for the turning mechanism and ensure that it turns well.
  • They will also design the blades of the windmill to best catch the wind and turn smoothly.
  • The design of the windmill tower itself comes into play as it must provide a stable platform on which to place the turning mechanism and blades.
