It’s another Egg Challenge! This is a variation of an egg drop event – just don’t let that tower fall with the egg on top! We have discovered that adding something as simple as an egg to a challenge makes for an exciting event (or egg-citing!)

Note: This challenge is available in a money-saving bundle.

What is the challenge?

This is a tower building challenge in which your students will use the simplest of supplies - just newspaper (or brown paper) and tape. The trick is, however, that the tower must bear weight and the weight is a fragile egg. Students will test their towers with an egg model and then end the project by using a real egg! Can they build a tower only using paper? Will the egg survive? Or will the egg drop?

What is your prep?

In addition to this package, you will need these supplies: newspaper or heavyweight brown paper, masking tape, plastic eggs or small containers, pennies, and real eggs.

The package specifically contains:

  • Cover
  • Teacher Overview
  • Materials and Preparation page
  • 5 pages of Teacher Step-by-Step Directions
  • Tips about Task Rules
  • Easier version of task rules in two formats
  • More challenging version of task rules in two formats
  • 5 pages of photos
  • 2-page lab sheet with answer key
  • 1-page lab sheet
  • Scoring rubric
  • Forms in an editable format
  • Terms of Use
