STEM Challenge Land Form Model

If you have been studying landforms this is the STEM Challenge for you! Students are challenged to create a scene showcasing landforms and they must design each model!

STEM is such a great way to provide hands-on experiences for your students. Why not try this with your study of landforms? Kids love creating and hands-on activities. They love building! STEM Challenges present them with the opportunity to learn as they go and definitely build and re-build.

This STEM activity will have your students designing a model of landforms of their choice. Following a study of landforms and what each resembles students create a landscape showcasing specific landforms. They will use a vast array of supplies and a huge amount of creativity and imagination.

This package does not contain specific lessons about landforms. It is intended to be used as a follow-up or culminating activity for your study.

The lesson guide provides a materials list and then step-by-step procedures to follow to make this a great experience. A page of Helpful Hints gives ideas of specific things to think about while using this package. Three versions of lab sheets are provided and a page of photos to guide the use of the package. A page of Extensions gives ideas of continuing the activity as a whole class or in your science/math centers or just alternate ways to use the package.

★You will need some supplies! This list is just a suggested list. You can certainly add to or take away from these ideas! Suggestions: boxes, cardboard, card stock, index cards, construction paper, copy paper, craft items (like pipe cleaners, toothpicks, modeling clay, cotton balls, etc.), white glue, scissors, rubber bands, rulers, and tape. Again, the supplies you use are entirely our choice.
