This is a great way to help students problem solve, build teamwork and communication skills, and also challenge themselves.
Students will read about a silly bear named Teddy who doesn't always come prepared to gather honey. Today he has only brought along 100 index cards, and 12 inches of tape. Students need to create a tower that will hold Teddy, and it must be at least 2 feet high.
Before starting this activity make sure that you gather the following materials:
100 index cards per group
12 inches of tape per group (I like to use blue painter’s tape because it can be re-positioned on the cards, and you can see where the kids used it).
One small (beanie baby) sized stuffed animal (you can get these cheap at orientaltrading.com)
BEE ready to guide students… let them come up with the ideas. They might struggle at first, but remember they are building teamwork and cooperative learning skills!
