Creating the Perfect Potato Chip Plan is highly engaging for students! This activity allows students to explore sustainable, eco-friendly, and economical ideas that are applicable to the real-world. A great project to work on at home! Your students will be in a flutter of excitement as the potato chip packages begin to arrive at your classroom door.
The Task: Plan and design the delivery of a single Pringle® potato chip. The chip must be packaged and arrive in perfect condition to our classroom using an outside source.
The Goal: To be the most sustainable, eco-friendly, and economical in your packaging and delivery method.
Students will apply both their knowledge about their local environment and the economical value of delivery. Both skills are very important as we aim to create savvy business people and environmental activist in our communities.
I just created this and I can't wait to do this with my own class of fifth graders!!! I plan to discuss the activity in length as we complete our Ecology Unit this Fall and then allow students the opportunity, if they choose, to partake in this STEM challenge..... I plan to make more throughout the year that can be done independently. Stay tuned.....
