Bundle Description
What a fabulous bundle! It's a STEM Engineering Challenge Bundle featuring specific math skills! Your students will be using area and perimeter and practicing finding the mean, median, mode, and range- all with hands-on engaging activities!

STEM Challenges Mega Bundle

The three specific challenge sets included in this bundle are listed below!


Cup Stacking - Finding the Mean, Median, Mode, and Range
Students will be stacking and building with cups! As towers are built students will stop and count, calculate averages, determine the median, mode, and range and have a lot of fun!

Exploring Perimeter and Area
Students will be thinking about perimeter and area. This challenge makes use of a popular children’s book called “Measuring Penny” by Loreen Leedy. After hearing the book read (or talking about measuring perimeter and area) students will be given a specific perimeter to use in designing a Dog Run. They must find all the combinations of sides in a rectangular shape that will create the Dog Run. After finding these rectangles students will also determine the area of each. Finally, they must choose which shape would make the best Dog Run for a dog and explain why. and there's more! The package has been updated and includes designing a tiny 3D dog run model.

Using Perimeter and Area
Students will be using perimeter and area. This challenge also makes use of the popular children’s book called “Measuring Penny” by Loreen Leedy. After hearing the book read (or talking about measuring perimeter and area) students will be given a specific perimeter to use in designing polygons. They must find a certain number of polygons within the given perimeter and then determine the area of each. By comparing the different shapes that result students will learn how to configure drawings to create the greatest areas. However, the final design challenge will make them really think. They must design a dog house floor plan- with specific size rules for the area and perimeter.

★You will need additional materials for use of these packages.
•For Finding Mean, Median, and Mode you will need: Styrofoam cups- size of your choice –each group needs 50, Meter sticks, Calculators, and a Timer.
•For Exploring Perimeter and Area you will need: a copy of the book by Loreen Leedy called “Measuring Penny” (or a similar read aloud); cm grid paper, construction paper, glue, markers, scissors, and chart paper.
•For Using Perimeter and Area you will need: a copy of the book by Loreen Leedy called “Measuring Penny” (or a similar read aloud); cm grid paper, construction paper, glue, tape, markers, scissors, and chart paper.

For each package you will receive: a lesson guide that provides a materials list and then step-by-step procedures to follow to make this a great experience; a page of Helpful Hints that gives ideas of specific things to think about while using this package; lab sheets; page of extension activities; sample answer sheets from students; and photos to help in your use of the challenges. Each challenge also includes a scoring rubric and editable forms
