This engineering challenge aligns to fifth grade McGraw-Hill Wonders Series, “The Princess and the Pea” by Hans Christian Andersen, retold by XineAnn. Liven up your literature with an engaging engineering design!
After reading the story, students will design a sturdy bed that must support weight without collapsing. Using simple, inexpensive materials, students will plan, design, reflect, and connect to literature. Students love to show off their designs and will remember the experience of developing their scientific literacy with hands-on learning!
