Earth Day STEM Challenge: Create Like Antoni Gaudi
This STEM lesson is designed to get students thinking creatively about the world around them and how we can help our Earth like Gaudi did with his art. This easy STEM activity asks students to work cooperatively with a team or work on their own, to design and test a pencil holder made out of recycled goods. This lesson is intended to help student celebrate Earth Day while thinking about recycling old items to repurpose them into something new. The real world connection by highlighting Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi, shows students a real world application.

1. Two versions of a STEM lesson recording sheet for students to record all parts of the STEM process, one for group work, one for individuals
2. A teacher resource page with book recommendations and YouTube links about Antoni Gaudi
3. Color photo cards from my own travels to show students some of Gaudi's work
This STEM lesson can be easily linked to lessons for Earth Day, study of the continents highlighting a country in Europe, or study of famous artists and architects.
