Paperclips represent atoms of different elements in this hands-on cooperative activity!
This activity asks students to compare different combinations of paperclips and determine if they represent an element, compound, mixture of elements, mixture of compounds, or mixture of elements and compounds.
This activity takes it a step farther by asking students to come up with a possible chemical formula for each molecule found in the container.
This activity was highly enjoyable for my students, and helped them to understand the difference between elements, compounds, and mixtures.
I hope that it is very helpful to you and your students!
