This tower uses one dozen inches of tape and only 12 inches of the main material! That’s why it is called a Designing with Dozens task! Students will follow the steps of the Engineering Design Process in this challenge and it is fascinating to watch as they plan and then begin construction. The constant need for improving the tower to keep it standing goes hand-in-hand with using the supplies wisely and understanding balancing and counterbalancing. Will the tower stand up? What height will the tallest tower be? How will you create a base? This challenge presents great ways to collaborate, but can be completed individually!
