Primarily aimed for teachers of students in grades kindergarten through second, “STEM For Young Learners: Lemons” presents jam-packed projects for budding scientists, mathematicians and engineers. These activities help you make and create wonderful classroom experiences. Using the theme of lemons as a springboard, young scientists will become chemists as they explore chemical reactions that cause lemons to erupt. Students go on an Internet scavenger hunt to find information on lemons. Young engineers will observe the power of lemons as they work in groups to create electrical currents to light bulbs. Young mathematicians will decide which of three different lemonades they would like to purchase. Using a mixture of play money coins they will complete their purchase, tally the sum of money earned by each type of lemonade and use the results to solve and create math problems.
