Welcome to STEM For Young Learners – Udon Noodles. Designed for classroom teachers, students in grades K-2, and parents, these lessons integrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math for grades K – 2. Using food-themed lessons as a catalyst students hone their critical thinking skills. Incorporated into the Udon Noodles theme is a scientific exploration in which students scientist learn about the science of indicator solutions and chemical reactions, a technology lesson in which students learn about the traditional use of chopsticks by most people who live in Japan, an engineering lesson in which students become food engineers to design packaging and labels for Udon noodles and a math lesson where students will identify and describe geometric shapes found in a displayed drawing of a house. Using a worksheet and actual Udon noodles, they will create 2-D images of line segments.
