Students will LOVE this real-world STEM Challenge that geologists and engineers are constantly trying to tackle!
In your study of plate tectonics, students will realize the catastrophic devastation that plate movement can bring and how often these catastrophes are featured in current events (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions). In this STEM project, students will choose any place on Earth that is along a plate boundary, and design cities, buildings, or technologies to help mitigate the effects of plate movement.
Students will gain an in-depth understanding of plate tectonics theory when they explore locations around the world and help solve the ever-looming challenge of how to better prepare for devastating plate movement.
