Need a quick STEM engineering task? You are going to love this one! It’s a Spoon Tower! This challenge can be a silly one and it can also be a challenging one. An alternative version of the challenge adds a twist to the rules that will set your students to work with a creative flair.

What is the challenge?
This challenge features the task of building a tower using a few basic supplies with the added criteria of a specific object at the top! A spoon! This was a really fun activity for my students.
What is your prep?
Supplies needed in addition to this package include paper or foam or paper cups, straws, plastic spoons, construction paper, masking tape, and a Container for each group’s supplies. Of course, substitutions can be made for any of these!
NOTE: This resource now contains an alternative version of the challenge that adds a little creativity to the task. There is a new set of rules, new lab sheet, and a scoring rubric that is designed for the second version of the challenge.
