S.T.E.M. activities may seem daunting when teaching young children. This is a STEM activity that I created to go with the song Down By The Bay. I would use this watermelon roll activity in May as an end of school activity or perhaps in the summer months. I like to include literature, reading, and writing into my STEM activity so that I can incorporate it into my reading block if needed. There is so much that has to be taught, and so little time!

I made this STEM activity when teammates of mine decided that they wanted to try my A+ Pumpkin Push S.T.E.M. Activity: Science, Technology, Engineering & Math
in May. We live in Florida and there are no pumpkins to be found in May unless you're using fake, plastic pumpkins. I converted the Pumpkin Push STEM
into a Watermelon STEM so that students at the end of the year can have just as much fun as they would have had in the fall using real pumpkins. I hope my watermelons don't break during our activity....but if they do, we'll just have a watermelon picnic afterwards!
Please download my free preview as it contains the unit in its entirety (minus the black-out lines). The only addition is ALL of the same pages in an easy to print black and white format.
