STEM Station (STEM Center) Activity: Air Show Competition
There’s a big “Air Show Extravaganza” coming to town and they need three new airplanes to showcase. They need a plane that will go far, a plane that will fly smoothly and a plane that will do tricks. Professor Stemplestein and his assistant don’t have time to design the planes so they’re going to need some help from your students!

Your students will be able to use their iPads or tablets to scan QR codes and watch a fun STEM Lab intro video (can also be viewed on a computer). This humorous video clip includes a scenario skit and an explanation of the STEM concepts associated with each activity ... straight from "Professor STEM-plestien's STEM Laboratory"! After watching the video, your students are sent off to solve the challenge using the supplies given. The sky is the limit! You will be amazed when you see what your students come up with!

This STEM Station Activity is video guided, student led and open ended
The provided video gives the scenario, explains the STEM Concepts and sends the students off to work. Students can access this video using their tablet and scanning the QR code on their worksheet. It can also be accessed through a link on your materials list and at the bottom of their worksheet using a laptop or desktop computer.
There are instructions for you to set up a “STEM Materials Box” for this activity. Once you put this together, your students can go through the entire activity on their own within a small group. The activity can also be run with the whole class.
After watching the video, your students are sent off to solve the problem using the supplies given. The sky is the limit! It’s amazing to see what kids come up with!
