This STEM lesson has students build a truffula tree from the story The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss. Students are required to use measurement skills, as well as engineering. It is a perfect way for teachers to integrate STEM into Read Across America celebrations. This packet includes a student instruction sheet with questions for students to answer about their STEM experience, as well as a rubric to use when you are grading the projects. There is also a list of suggested materials to use with the lesson, although you can use whatever materials you would like.
