STEM the Playground!
Engineer a Structure for a Rainy Day Recess
Is rain getting in the way for having outdoor recess? Time to engineer a prototype for a playground shelter so the children can play outside when it rains. In addition, the roof of the structure needs to collect rain for use in the adjacent gardens. Your students will use the engineering design process as they work on this challenge. Included in the packet are teacher notes, inquiry questions, student role cards, student handouts, the engineering design process poster, and a rubric.
