STEP by STEP CORRECT LETTER FORMATION uses the Handwriting Without Tears model of letter formation, to teach your students HOW to correctly form each letter.

On each sheet there is a guide graphic which represents that letter's beginning sound. Your students will follow the guide graphic down the page, drawing each dotted line. As they complete a step and move to the next, the previous line they drew will appear grey (showing what they have already drawn). They should begin every dotted line at its “starting point.”

Although I have packaged these sheets in alphabetical order, it is best to teach the foundational letters, like “c”, “l” and “r” BEFORE you teach the letters in which they are a component. For example, lowercase magic “c” can be found in “a, d, g, o, q, and s.” I have purposely shown all of the steps to form a “c” on the “c” page; but, on “a” your students will begin by drawing a “c.”

You might notice that there are two options for uppercase G and Y included. Use the one that you prefer.

We like to use these sheets in our interactive notebooks. If you'd like to as well, print the pack at 85%; trim off the name bar at the top and glue into your notebooks.

Your students can compete these sheets with crayons, or slip the sheets into page protectors and have them use dry erase markers.
