This is a Chutes and Ladders like classic game. It is an easy game to enjoy with your younger students. No reading is required to play, but the game teaches kids to recognize numbers and count up to 49 while practicing a target sound in all positions of words. Rules are simple enough for children as young as three. Two different game boards for each of the following sounds are included: /K/, /SH/, /CH/ and /L/. This game can be played with small groups of students working on the same or different target sounds. A list of target the words used is also included in order to help the speech therapist identify the pictured items if necessary. A title sheet is also included and can be used as a label for the Ziploc bag that the game boards can be stored in.
Just print game boards on cardstock, laminate for durability and you are ready to play this classic fun game that kids love!!!
•Choose the board you wish to use with your students. Print one copy on cardstock, laminate for durability and you are ready to go. If students are working on different target sounds within the group more than one board can be used. Each student would get his or her own individual game board.
•Dice and one marker for each student will be needed (not included)
DIRECTIONS FOR PLAY
Each student chooses a playing piece (marker) and rolls the dice to see who goes first. The player who rolls the highest number plays first. Place each person's player/marker just left of square number one.
The student rolls the dice and moves the corresponding number of squares. The student should say each word pictured as he/she moves along the board.
Continue playing in turns. When the student lands on a square with a picture of the bottom of a ladder, move up the ladder to the square where the ladder ends. When you land on a square with a picture of a slide, move down the slide to the square where the slide ends. Only go up or down if you land on a square where the slide or ladder starts or ends.
Keep playing until a player reaches square 49 on his or her board by an exact roll of the dice. The first player to reach square 49 wins the game.
