***My best use of the STOP poster: I have some students with autism who like to come around my desk area to look at my laptop, iPads, phone, lunch... you name it. When I'm working with these students, I block the walkway to my desk with a chair and hang a stop sign on the back. Students are usually curious about the stop sign and ask about it even if I forget to explain what it means!
***I like to tell students: "Look, that whole room is your space, and this little area with the stop sign is my space. Doesn't seem fair, does it?" If I make a joke out of it, students are willing to comply with requests to respect personal space.
