This is a 5-page storytime kit or activity pack to use with students after reading Thank You, Sarah: The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving written by Laurie Halse Anderson and illustrated by Matt Faulkner. This would be an excellent book to read with students before the Thanksgiving (American) holiday. You could also use these for literature circles or centers.
The kit asks students to (1) write a letter (much like Sarah Hale did), (2) complete a Thanksgiving table craft including making a guest list, (3) think about our Thanksgiving traditions and come up with a new one, (4) answer questions about Thanksgiving and the book's content, and (5) do a word search.
This product is for personal use only. Duplication for others, or for an entire department, school, or school system is prohibited.
*Why this product was made*
I'm a librarian who loves sharing picture books with my students. I try to craft activities I can use year after year to reinforce reading and writing skills, connect to ELA standards, and encourage students to enjoy picture books no matter their age/grade.
