It's amazing how much middle school students DON'T know about reading food labels. Students always get really "into" this activity, and it leads to great discussions about what "healthy" food really means.
In this activity, students analyze a variety of food labels for calories, carbohydrates, fats, and protein so they can get a better idea about what is actually in the foods they are digesting. On the worksheet, they record these macro-nutrients (in grams) and then answer some analysis questions.
To get the number and variety of food labels needed, bring some in from home AND have each student bring in 3 for a homework assignment leading up to this activity.
