Being a student teacher is one of the most difficult things you can go through. I currently have a student teacher and I thought that maybe if he had some tools to get going then maybe that might make his transition into this new role a little easier.

Below you will find 27 tools to get students teachers going. This can be for the master teacher to give as a gift or for a student teacher.

Here is the list of things included:

You will receive a link in the bundle to the GOOGLE DRIVE instant download for the Civil War Unit unit.

1920's BUNDLE

1. Resume This is a professional resume that I worked on for more than 10 years. It was looked at by a number of professionals including an English teacher.

RESUME

2. To Do List This little sheet is what I use to start my day with. It really helps me stay organized and focused on what I need to get done day to day.

TO DO LIST

3. Bibliography Sheet This will help students and teacher write a bibliography.

4. Vocabulary Sheet Within every unit there is vocabulary that many students do not understand. This sheet will allow students to be introduced to the words for the unit in a fun and creative way.

VOCAB SHEET

5. Chapter Preview Sheet This is a way to have the students look through the chapter prior to us actually learning about the unit we are studying. I have 2 separate versions included.

CHAPTER PREVIEW SHEET

6. Gift Assignment This is one of my favorite assignments and maybe one of my students least favorite assignments. It requires the use of drawing (60%) and explaining the chapter in an organized yet visual way. (40% of it is to be written) I have included lots of examples with this assignment.

7. DBQ Stuff

1. Template: The template is a good for the teacher who wants to create their own DBQ and just needs a little structure to put it together. The second image shows most of the resource as this is only a template, nothing more and nothing less.

2. Intro PPT/Keynote: for when you introduce the DBQ after the hook. I like this because it is a step by step guide to what needs to be done.

3. DBQ Steps: This is an abbreviated version of the above PPT/Keynote. It is half the slides and is really clear. I use both of these in conjunction with the how to write a DBQ based question essay.

4. 11 Steps: The DBQ based question essay steps is really great as it goes through the structure of the DBQ and the 11 steps the students are to follow when doing a DBQ. I have also included some reminders as well for proof reading and grammar checks.

5. Read around sheet: With 120 World History students and 75 US History students and 30 Economics students I do not have time to read things twice. This is my solution to help relieve some of the problems of writing a first draft that is not of very high quality.

6. Reflection: This is a time for the students to reflect on the process and whether it was a good or bad experience and what they could have done better.

7. WWI Rubric Sample: This is a sample rubric that will hopefully make grading a little easier as I really just want the students to become better at the process of analyzing documents and responding to a prompt which will in turn make them better writers.

DBQ BUNDLE

8. Syllabus This is how I start my year with this nice template. I have included 3 different versions: US, World, and Economics.

SYLLABUS

9. Guest Speaker questions I love having guest speakers and this is helpful in creating some question ideas for when they come in.

GUEST SPEAKER QUESTIONS

11. Student Teacher questions I tend to get a lot of student teachers and observers. These questions are important as it allows my student teachers to really think about stuff before we get going with the teaching part of the year.

STUDENT TEACHER QUESTIONS

12. How to Outline A vital skill in surviving college is outlining. This walks people though the process of creating an outline in class. We typically do at least 1-2 sections per chapter for the year.

HOW TO OUTLINE

13. Test Correction Sheet This is a great way to have students go back and fix things that they may have missed. I give them points back into their grade for doing this. If they have an A or a B they get 2 points, if they have a C they get 3 points and if they have a D or and F they get 4 points.

TEST CORRECTION SHEET

14. Flipped Note Sheet I use this with my really long PPT's in class. It still give the students access to the teacher and information while not direct teaching for 5-7 days. I really like this and use this quite a bit.

15. Pet Peeves: I have included a list of my pet peeves that I start with so the students know exactly how to act in my class. It is partially for fun, but it is very true and I hold them to these things.

16. Top 10 Things: I have added my 10 things that require zero talent PPT.

10 Things that require ZERO talent

17. Back to School Night: I have added my back to school night PPT in 2 different versions.

18. How to write a book review: This allows students to review the books they are reading mostly for EC. The review has the students go through 6 steps to make sure that they can prove that they have read the book.

19. How to a mission statement: This is a great way to teach students how to write a mission statement.

20. MEMO/MLA format These are the formats I use in my class when turning in anything of written importance.

21. Paragraph Sheet Probably the single most important skill that I teach my students about. It is the template to writing an 11 sentence paragraph. If one can write an 11 sentence paragraph you can write a mulct-paragraph essay.

READING AND WRITING BUNDLE

22. Read Around Sheet: The read around sheet is a way for students to get in groups of 2 or 3 and read each others papers. It does not matter if it is a DBQ or a paragraph. Feedback is everything and with 230 students it gets tough. I have made 4 different versions of the is sheet, 2 for paragraphs and 2 for DBQ.

23. Writing Prompts: These are some of my best writing prompts that can be used in either World or US History.

READING AND WRITING BUNDLE

24. How to Annotate: This is a 1 page instruction on how to annotate text in class. It goes through 10 steps to make it easy for students. There are lots of ideas just to get kids started on the process.

25. Poem Analysis Sheet: This goes well with any poem and asks the students to read the poem 3 different times. The students will annotate and ask questions and talk about how they feel about things.

26. Personal Account sheet: This is something I created for the WWI and WWII stations sheet. It allows students to be able to create and respond to some generic questions for a personal account of a historical figures life.

27. Marking the Text: This is a great way to have students mark up the text for any primary source document. This is more instructional than anything else.
