Subtraction Facts to 10
Subtract to 10
Flashcards, Games, Quizzes, and More
There are 65 subtraction facts from 0-10. I broke those facts into 8 levels of 6-10 facts. I wanted my struggling first graders to have challenging yet obtainable goals.
This packet has flash cards, games, and quizzes for each level. There is a reward system built in that can be done as a bulletin board or as a reward booklet. The students names go on a submarine and each time they pass a level, they visit another animal and get one step closer to the treasure box at the bottom. (I let them get something from the treasure box when they passed all the levels).
I intentionally made the games for each level the same so that our class time could be spent learning subtraction rather than new games. Once I introduced a game, the kids were able to play it for each level. Some asked to take the games home to play with their families which was wonderful.
My favorite part of teaching is watching the kids have the Aha Moment where they feel successful. Breaking subtraction facts into manageable chunks helped to create a lot of those excited aha moments. My students loved SUBtracting (which wasn't the case before we started this unit.)
The packet has a color version and a black and white version so that you can choose the ink you'd like to use. There are also some organizational tips and sheets to help.
