I created these booklets for helping 4th grade students review and for acceleration of 3rd grade students.
The Summer Math and Language Arts Packet may be used by a teacher who wants to give his or her students an academic advantage over the summer months, or by parents looking for practice of 4th grade standards. It can be used at anytime during the school year, as well as during summer break.
I designed this Summer Math and Language Arts Packet for two main reasons. The first reason is to help decrease summer learning loss. Many students, 4th graders included, have a tendency to forget much of what is learned if the material that was presented in class is not practiced over an extended period of time. The second reason I created this packet is to accelerate a student, such as a third grader, who wants to be better prepared for the 4th grade learning experience. (It can also come in handy for test prep!)
There are 8 mixed review booklets. (Use the included diagram on how to make a booklet. It is a simple process and the only prep that will be needed.) Also included are specific booklets on fraction models, geometry models, and word problems. These booklets are separate from the original 8 review booklets since more space is needed for models and problem solving. Answer keys are provided for all included questions. A blank booklet has been included in case a teacher, parent, or child is motivated to write more problems or questions.
I wanted to include more than just practice/review pages for students. I wanted to include help for children who might need it. I also wanted parents who might not be familiar with a standard to have something to use as a resource. Full page anchor charts (52 math charts and 22 language art charts) are included for most standards so that a child who might not quite remember a standard, or a child seeing the standard for the first time, can have a resource to help figure out problems or questions. The anchor charts are black and white for easy printing. These charts are not meant to be lessons on the standard, but simply a handy reference tool.
