The hop is a difficult skill for students to perform correctly. For most students, it requires a little more practice time than the other locomotor patterns that have already been taught. The hop requires more balance and strength than the previous locomotor patterns taught. Demonstrations of a mature hop will be critical to help students understand how to perform it.

The unit has the following sections:
•A clearly defined motor task objective
•Planning
•Student Performance Rubric
•Summative Assessment
•Learning Sequence – Task Extensions
•Teaching Cues
