SOLVING SYSTEMS of EQUATIONS - a tarsia or jigsaw puzzle
Algebra students need to be able to solve systems of equations. They will benefit from a variety of opportunities to practice this skill. This is a great activity to help them practice.
This resource is useful in stations, assigned as an individual challenge, or with an intervention group/individual.
•A Tarsia Style puzzle on Solving Solving Systems of Equations where students match a system to the solution.
•A mat template; to provide a place to place puzzle pieces.
•Equations and solutions in a table format. To use when it is not convenient to cut and glue puzzle pieces; i.e. absence or missed class) or to provide a place for students to show their work.
•Answers for the puzzle and for the table.
ALTERNATE ideas for using the resource
Use the included worksheet and challenge students to show their work to solve the equations.
Cut apart the cells and use the strips for a card matching activity.
There are nine systems of equations and solutions.
This resource is great as an anchor activity or differentiation activity to engage and challenge a variety of learners.
