Pg. 3-5 Vocabulary in Context – copy pages A and B back to back, fold on the solid lines, cut on the dotted lines – write a sentence and illustrate each vocabulary word
Pg. 6 Use It! – use your vocabulary words in a paragraph/short story
Pg. 7-8 Unscramble It! – Copy pages A and B back to back -unscramble each spelling word and write them three times
Pg. 9-11 My Comprehension Flip It! - copy pages A and B back to back, fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines, answer the questions and illustrate
Pg. 12-15 Main Ideas and Details – a fun graphic organizer – copy the canoe onto brown construction paper, cut and glue the sides to form a pocket – cut out the details and the main idea box – fill them out – glue the main idea box onto the canoe and load Sacagawea and the supplies into the canoes
Pg. 16-18 Help Sacagawea gather the horses for the Journey – abbreviation practice – choose five words that can be abbreviated – write the words on each horse – glue the horse on the page with the writing boxes – lift the flap and use the abbreviated form of the word in a sentence
Pg. 19-26 If I was Sacagawea for the day – a writing and craft activity – write a narrative as if you were Sacagawea – attached the writing page onto the right side of a large piece of construction paper – cut and glue the back of the cradleboard onto the left side of the paper – attach the baby’s head to the top of the cradle board – cut out the front of the cradleboard, punch holes, and thread black yarn through it – attach the front of the cradleboard to the back by gluing it around the edges – cut out the black strips for hair and cut them to the appropriate length (I cut mine in half) – glue on the eyes or draw half circles for a sleeping baby – color in other facial features – decorate the cradleboard – I used sequins – see example
Pg. 27 -28 Native American Report – this is a simple no fuss fun report – choose an Indian Nation, research it, fill in the information and illustrate it – attach it to a piece of construction paper
Pg. 29 Corps of Discovery Job Application – pretend you want to join the Corps – tell why you are interested and why they should include you on their team
Pg. 30-33 Write to Respond – three different writing responses to use – What made the Corps of Discovery Team a success? – How can you learn about being a good leader from Clark? – How do people from different cultures contribute to American History?
